The Springfield region likes to talk with great pride about its willingness to give young professionals a “seat at the table” – a chance to be heard, to be involved in the decision-making process and shape their own future.

On July 18, three YPs who have already decided to get involved in public office spoke to members of The Network at the latest Access to the Issues event about what it’s like to be an officeholder, and how they’re working to shape the community.

Young professionals gathered at the Chamber March 9, brought together by The Network and Leadership Springfield, to learn about the two initiatives on the April 3 ballot requesting support for Ozarks Technical Community College.

One of the perks of being a young professional in Springfield is that our voice and opinions are valued, needed and heard. That was on display again at the Chamber’s February Good Morning, Springfield event at the Springfield/Branson National Airport, where more than 325 people got a chance to hear all about The Network and our area talent retention efforts.

The city’s upcoming election is a critical one with six City Council seats up for grabs, including Mayor. Additionally, voters will determine the fate of a $189 bond proposal that will allow for the construction of new buildings and improvements throughout nearly all existing SPS facilities.
