February Spotlight: Paddio

Since joining the Springfield business community in August 2020, Paddio has created over 75 new jobs with more hiring on the horizon in 2021. Paddio was created by Columbia-based Veterans United Home Loans and aims to offer the same exceptional service to homebuyers who are not eligible for the VA loan.

Following this initial hiring surge Paddio made it a priority to connect with local colleges and universities including Evangel, Missouri State (MSU), Drury, and Ozarks Technical Community College to meet local college students. These relationships helped form the inaugural internship class with interns starting in December 2020.

“We’re piloting an internship program this spring that we hope to continue to grow- creating opportunities for local students who will not only gain experience in a business setting, but also get to participate in an abundance of other activities with interns across Veterans United.

By creating a competitive compensation package and offering licensing opportunities combined with personal & professional development, we are seeking to attract local college students who want to jumpstart their careers. Once licensed, our interns are able to originate loans and actively play a part in helping our borrowers purchase their dream homes,” said Loan Officer Developer and Intern Supervisor, KC Brower.

Get to know some of our interns:

Elliot McComas is a senior studying Finance at MSU. About his internship experience at Paddio, Elliot shared: “I love the support that I’ve received from the full-time team. I truly feel like part of the family and am excited to jump in and connect with customers to help them in the loan process.”

Kylie Shoot is also a senior at MSU and will earn her Finance degree and Spanish minor in May 2021. Kylie is enjoying the “friendly and accommodating environment at Paddio, which has been helpful while training and learning my role.” Kylie looks forward to becoming a confident and successful loan officer through the Paddio internship program.

Matthew Burton will earn a degree in Entertainment Management this May from MSU. While this internship is a transition from his previous experience in sports and entertainment, Matthew enjoys “working with the team at Paddio in a fun environment at a company that values its employees.”

Marquis Gantt is a junior at MSU pursuing a Marketing degree with an emphasis in Sales and has enjoyed getting to know his coworkers and the Paddio culture.

“Our current group of interns has brought a completely new energy to Paddio and they fit right in with our culture. As we continue to grow this program, I am excited to offer new opportunities to students and prepare them for entering the workforce after graduation. They bring so much to the table with their positive attitudes and eagerness to learn.“ said Brower.
